5 Tips to Creating a Domain Name for Your Blog

If you are just starting to make a blog for your business, you most probably want to give it the best name that you could. Creating a domain name for your blog is of utmost importance since it certainly would have to leave an impression on your potential customers.
If you need some help in creating a name for your blog, here are some things to help you started.
  1. Make your name appropriate. Of course, you’d think “Are you kidding?” However, there are a lot of people who forget this part when they make a blog. Some people will prefer to choose a name that sounds either funny or cool instead of picking a name that sums up what their site is about. When you are also concerned about your Google rank, you also have to include a name that spells what your site is concerned about. For example, if you are into shoes, place the term “shoes” in your domain name.
  2. Create a short and concise name. When this is done appropriately, not only will your guests come back often, they can also recommend it to their friends. This is obviously impossible if your domain name is a long group of unfamiliar terms. Make your domain name short and straight to the point.
  3. Create a catchy domain name. You could have achieved the previous step easily but if the name doesn’t smoothly etch on your guest’s mind, then it isn’t good enough. You want to have a name that can be easily remembered and vocalized because this way, your name can be easily passed by word of mouth.
  4. Place yourself in your audience’s shoes. This one is absolutely relevant. Think of your audience. Picture the group of people that you want to visit your site. They could be potential employers, students or teachers. Regardless of what type of guests you expect to have, pick a name that they would readily approve. Consider if you want it to sound professional, casual or cutting-edge. When you want to make a blog name, choose one that caters to your audience.
  5. Pick the right site extension. Site extensions include .com, .net, .org and others. Most people don’t exactly remember the extension when they say a website name. Choosing a .com extension is ok since plenty of people assume that extensions are always .com. However, this type of extension is pricier than others so choose one according to your need.
